ABC studio Field Trip
As a class we went to visit our local news station which happens to be an affiliate to the ABC network. It was a very eye opening experience and it had us realize what goes on behind the scenes in a live recording of the news.To me it looked very stressful because it's recorded live and anything can happen and go wrong at any moment but the staff are pros and have got everything covered.
Everyone was very nice and welcoming to us, they were very happy to have us and explain what they do.
What was very cool is actually witnessing the anchors and weatherman doing their set live. It was surprising to me that their cameraman was one person and she was controlling the cameras with a stick, and manually moving them to the required position that was being told to her in her ear piece. Also watching the weatherman say the weather in front of a green screen is a skill I would love to know how to do.
Overall the experience was amazing and now I know the hustle and bustle behind the news room and can appreciate what goes on when I am watching the news.
